Belly Fat Weight Loss Foods

It is impossible to target a specific area of your body for fat loss. If you're aiming to lose fat from your belly, adopt an overall cardiovascular exercise plan that focuses on burning calories and fat, while also tackling exercises that isolate your core muscles --- both abdominal and lower-back muscles. While eating specifics foods won't, by itself, trim fat from your belly, there are a handful of foods you should incorporate into your diet to help you lose that stubborn belly fat.

Whole Grains and Oats

Although many popular commercial weight-loss diets require you to eliminate carbohydrates almost entirely, eating the right kinds, in moderation, can help you when it comes to losing belly fat. Brown rice and whole grain or whole wheat bread contain fiber and amino acids that can benefit your weight-loss goals. Eating oatmeal in the morning can also help blast belly fat, as the fiber will help stave off late-morning food cravings. Oatmeal also contains vitamins and protein. Avoid the packaged, flavored oatmeals, however; they are loaded with sugar, which will counteract your weight-loss attempts.

Protein:
Protein is made up of amino acids, which are the building blocks of muscle tissue and can help burn stored fat in your body. Obtain essential amino acids, which are those that your body does not produce naturally and must be provided through your diet, by eating animal-based foods such as dairy products, meat and eggs. Choose low-fat sources of protein, such as lean cuts of beef, grilled fish and poultry.

Snacks

Keeping healthy snacks on hand to eat between meals will help ensure you don't eat too much, or crave unhealthy foods, when mealtime rolls around. Nuts, such as almonds, make a good snack because they contain amino acids and dietary fiber, which will help you feel fuller longer. Protein shakes also make for a good, belly fat-burning snack. Mix protein powder with skim or 1-percent milk, or add it to a smoothie for a healthy snack loaded with amino acids.

Fruits and Vegetables

Low-carbohydrate weight-loss diets won't allow you many servings of fruits each day, since the carbs and sugars contained therein end up as glycogen and, ultimately, as fat, if your body fails to burn them as energy. Consume fruits in moderation when trying to burn belly fat, but don't remove them from your diet altogether. The vitamins, fiber and amino acids in berries, in particular, can help you reach your goals. Vegetables, particularly dark, leafy greens and broccoli, are low in calories and high in fiber, vitamins and minerals.
